Chairman Wontumi has pleaded NOT GUILTY to five charges in the alleged GH¢30 million Ghana EXIM Bank fraud case.

The charges include defrauding by false pretences, two counts of using forged documents, money laundering, and intentionally causing financial loss to a public body.

Prosecutors allege that Wontumi used forged documents to secure loans for a farming project that was never undertaken, resulting in an estimated GH¢30 million loss to the state.

The prosecution has been given 14 days to file disclosures, with the next court proceedings scheduled for October 27, 2026.

JUST IN: The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has explained that the 20% tax on Netflix, Spotify, ChatGPT, and other eligible digital subscriptions is not a new tax.

Ghanaians have been paying tax on these services since 2019. The tax was previously 22% but has now been reduced to 20%.

The only change is that banks will now deduct the tax directly when customers pay for these services. This means you should not be charged the same tax twice.

The confusion may have come from how the GRA boss communicated the issue. The new system takes effect on October 15.
