KASOA SECOND TRAGEDY: POLICE ARREST 3 OVER GRUESOME KILLING OF 34-YEAR-OLD MOMO VENDOR AT GUEST HOUSE
Kasoa, Central Region – Panic and shock have gripped residents of Kasoa Second after the Central East Regional Police Command confirmed the arrest of three persons, including a 59-year-old woman and a female juvenile, in connection with the alleged murder of a 34-year-old Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor inside a guest house.
The deceased has been identified as Christian Amponsah, a hardworking young man known in the Kasoa Second area for his mobile money business.
According to a detailed police statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Regional Police Command, and dated Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
HOW THE BODY WAS DISCOVERED
Police narrated that on that fateful Sunday, the manager of a popular guest house at Kasoa Second made a report after two persons who had booked a room for a short stay of two hours failed to check out as expected.
The room had been booked by the deceased MoMo vendor and a female juvenile.
When the two hours elapsed and there was still no sign of them coming out, the manager became suspicious and went to knock. There was no response.
Worried, the manager opened the door only to be met with a heartbreaking scene. Christian Amponsah was found lying motionless in a pool of blood, in a prone position, and his body had been covered with bedsheets, curtains and pillows in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.
The manager immediately raised alarm and reported to the Kasoa Police.
A team of officers rushed to the scene, examined the body and conveyed it to the *Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra* for preservation and autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED
After days of intelligence-led investigation, the police on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, arrested three suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
The suspects have been identified as:
1. Felicia Osei Appiah, 59 years old
2. Clement Opoku Yeboah, 24 years old
3. A female juvenile whose name has been withheld due to her age
Police sources indicate that the juvenile was the one who booked the room together with the deceased.
What transpired inside the room leading to the death of Christian Amponsah is still under investigation.
All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
The Command has assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing and steps are being taken to put the suspects before court.
RESIDENTS IN FEAR
The news of the killing has left many mobile money vendors in Kasoa and its environs in fear. Kasoa, one of the fastest-growing towns in Ghana, has seen a rise in attacks on MoMo vendors in recent years. Many vendors handle large sums of cash daily, making them targets for criminals.
Residents of Kasoa Second, Old Barrier, Budumburam, Millennium City and surrounding communities have been calling on the Ghana Police Service to increase night patrols and provide more security for small business owners.
A fellow MoMo vendor who knew the deceased told http://Kasoanews.com that Christian was a very calm and respectful young man who was focused on his business.
“He was not someone who looked for trouble. He was just working hard to make a living. We are all shocked,” the vendor said, asking for anonymity.
POLICE ASSURANCE
In its statement, the Central East Regional Police Command commended members of the public whose timely information led to the arrest of the suspects. The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased and his family.
“The Command assures the public that thorough investigations are ongoing with steps being taken to put the suspects before court,” DSP Dosoo stated.
The body of the deceased remains at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy and release to the family for burial.
WHAT NEXT?
The case is expected to be heard in court in the coming days after the police conclude their initial investigations. The inclusion of a juvenile in the case means the case will be handled with caution in line with Ghana’s Juvenile Justice Act.
