In the video, Afrifa, a former host on Angel TV/Fm, is seen taking the cash out of the envelope. He proceeded to count it and, seemingly after reaching a certain amount, pocketed it.
He appeared to be handing over the rest to someone else, possibly as their ‘cut’, before the video cuts off.
The video was shared with the caption: “Okatakyie Afrifa, come and explain this $12,000 you collected. What work was it for?”
The poster went ahead to allege that Afrifa was paid by the NPP to ‘make Mahama dirty’.
After the 2024 elections, Afrifa, who campaigned for the NPP, left his position with the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) and started an online talk show, For the Records.
The show has been heavily critical of the new NDC government and has also sparked a feud with controversial U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Taylor, a staunch NPP critic. Taylor, during their feud, exposed Afrifa’s show for being inorganic and purchasing likes from Vietnam.
For the Records appears to be the NPP’s answer to Taylor’s influence in the online space, raising questions over whether top members of the now-opposition party are funding Afrifa.
