According to the Krowor MP, she thinks paternity leave is also important however, she only has slight doubts about the policy because she’s not sure if men would actually stay home with their wives or simply use the free time to do something else.
During her vetting, Agnes Lartey said: “I would love to advocate for paternity leave, but it will be interesting if they spend time with their family if they take such leave,”
Social media users disagreed with her plan with many calling for her to increase maternity leave instead, which is only three months in Ghana.
“I think it’s 6months maternity leave we the women are advocating for so let’s get that done first before looking at this angle of paternity leave,” one user said.
Other said men will not spend the leave with their family but will rather chill with their side chicks.
“side chicks go enjoy rough,” one netizen simply wrote.
