Quaye, accompanied by his team, donated rice and other food items to the office of the Chief Imam as part of his ongoing 40th birthday celebrations. The donation included a cash sum of Ghc 100,000.
Following the donation, the Chief Imam laid hands on Quaye. The donation also comes at a crucial time as the Eid celebrations are just about to kick off with the end of Ramadan.
The donation is the first public appearance by Quaye following the recent controversy about his finances following his birthday celebrations.
Reports alleged that the Financial Intelligence Center had frozen all of Quaye’s accounts in the wake of his extravagant 40th birthday celebrations at the Independence Square last week. Quaye threw a lavish party with celebrities from home and abroad attending.
Following reports of his account being frozen, new reports alleged he owed in excess of Ghc 30m in taxes to the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The GRA reacted to the reports in a statement, revealing that Quaye’s accounts had not been frozen but the agency was engaging him in meeting his tax obligations.
