In the search for the NPP’s vice presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, it has become very necessary for us to share our opinion on the subject matter arising thereafter from the election of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of Ghana as the NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.

From the list of names that are making rounds in our political space in the media since Dr. Bawumia was elected as the NPP flag bearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the minister for energy and the member of parliament for the Mehyia South Constituency name stands tall among all the names being thrown about as potential candidates for the NPP vice presidential position.
In the just-ended NPP presidential primaries, Napo’s constituency gave Dr. Bawumia about 80% of the total presidential valid votes that secured the victory of the vice president in the Constituency and the Ashanti Region at large.
This vote is the highest that Dr. Bawumia secured in the Ashanti Region compared to the other candidates whose names have come up for the same position in the region.
Among all the names making rounds from the Ashanti region, it is evident and very clear that Dr. Napo’s mobilization in the region stands tall in our quest to find a vice presidential candidate to partner with the ticket of Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 elections. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh adds to the ticket, pragmatism, result-oriented, proactiveness, listening leadership, and being very disciplined.
These traits the NPP led by Dr. Alhaji Bawumia needs to complement his competent and enviable leadership to break the 8 for the party.
The New Patriotic Party NPP needs Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the NPP running mate to Dr. Bawumia to break the 8-year circle in our Presidential elections.
With this team, it is possible to break the 8 for the party and anything short of this could be a disaster for the NPP Government and party. We need this team as a party to make a better country for all of us as a people.
