Speaking during a recent interview, Annoh Dompreh said in the history of NPP politics, no candidate has ever won the Presidency at the first try hence it only makes sense for Bawumia to be given a second and even if neccessary, a third try to win power.
He said the two former NPP Presidents of the 4th Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufour, both lost before eventually winning. Kufour lost once, in 1996, before winning in 2000; and Akufo-Addo lost a whopping two times – once to John Atta Mills in 2008 and to John Mahama in 2012 before eventually seizing power in 2016.
Annoh Dompreh said: “I respect Kennedy Agyapong. He is a good man and a true blue-party person, but I will still support Dr Bawumia for the presidency. I think it would be most unfair to leave Dr Bawumia because, in our tradition, nobody has won the presidency at once.
“President Akufo-Addo himself three times, President Kufuor himself two times, so I think it will be most unfair, but I respect Kennedy Agyapong,”
