NDC To Elect Mahama as Flagbearer on This date, Check it out
Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced the dates for the opening of nominations, the purchase of forms, and the filing of nomination forms for the election of a presidential candidate for the party ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
This election will determine who the party will put forward as its candidate for president.
The call for nominations will be open from the 22nd to the 24th of February, 2023.
Each potential nominee must submit their information on their own individual nomination form.
However, the nomination forms have been raised from GH30,000 to GH50,000 in order to account for inflation.
“Completed nomination papers must be delivered to me along with the required deposit of GHC 50,000.00 (a banker’s draft) between the aforementioned hours from the 20th day of March to the 22nd day of March at the Party Headquarters,” he continued.
“This is between the hours mentioned above, from the 20th of March to the 22nd of March.”
On the thirteenth day of May in 2023, the vote will be cast at the location chosen inside the constituency in each of the areas between the hours of seven in the morning and five in the evening local time.
Election Schedule
On May 13, 2023, there would be simultaneous primaries for the presidency and the legislature, which would take place on the same day.
At a press conference that was held in Accra on Wednesday, January 18, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said that the two elections would be held on the same day in all of the voting centers in the 276 constituencies, including Santrokofi Akpafu Likpe and Lolobi (SALL).
“The NDC headquarters would also constitute a voting center,” Mr. Kwetey said when he announced the timetable for the elections.
The National Chairman of the party, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, a Member of the NDC legal team, Baba Jamal, and former flag bearer aspirant, Sylvester Mensah were among the leading members of the party that were present at the press conference. Other prominent members of the party were also present.
According to the schedule, the nomination period for prospective parliamentary candidates will begin on February 22 and continue through February 24.
This will allow individuals who are interested in running for office to obtain nomination forms from the NDC website at a cost of GH5000, which must be paid using Mobile Money.
Although nominations for presidential candidates will also begin on February 22–24, interested candidates are required to pick up nomination forms directly from the office of the General Secretary of the party and pay a fee of GH30,000 via bank draft.
This requirement is in place despite the fact that nominations for presidential candidates will begin on February 22 to 24.
On the other hand, female candidates and people with physical disabilities would only be required to pay half of the cost that would normally be necessary.
Before the screening process could begin from March 27 to 29, potential candidates for president and seats in parliament would have to turn in their forms, already filled out, between the dates of March 20 and 22.
Between the 30th of March and the 6th of April, prior to the election on the 13th of May, there would also be a window for appeals over the conclusion of the vetting process.
