Mr Ibu’s cause of death finally revealed
In a recent update to the sad death of John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas Ejezie has revealed what killed the legendary Nollywood comic thespian.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Rollas revealed that Mr Ibu had suffered a cardiac arrest. He also verified that actress Kate Henshaw’s mother had passed away on that very day.
“I announce with deep sense of grief that Ibu didn’t make it. Mr Ibu suffered a cardiac arrest according to his manager of 24 years, May his soul rest in peace,” Rollas said on his Instagram page.
Ejezie said the loss of Ibu leaves a profound sadness in the hearts of fans worldwide.
He said Ibu with his remarkable talent and unparalleled comedic timing, reshaped the landscape of Nigerian movies, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
“Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Ibu brought immeasurable joy to countless souls through his memorable performances.
His infectious laughter and boundless energy transcended screens, bringing smiles to faces in every household across Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
The actor had been grappling with health problems since October 2023 and had undergone several surgeries that ultimately resulted in the amputation of his leg.
Nevertheless, reports from his family in November suggested that he was making progress in his recovery.
He was recently discharged from the hospital and looked hale and hearty until this sad news emerged.
Recall that following his return home, Mr Ibu’s colleague, Ken Erics, shared a heartwarming update on the actor’s recovery, just to provide fans with a glimpse of his improved health.
Ken Erics took to Instagram to post a video of his visit to Mr Ibu’s home to welcome him back.
According to Ken Erics, he purposely visited Mr Ibu just to update his fans, who have been eagerly awaiting news about his current health status
