Members of the Korle-bu senior staffs association has expressed their dissatisfaction over the administration system of their Chief Executive officer ( CEO) Dr. Ampomah for running the government hospital as his family business.
According to information, Dr. Ampomah was the head of department at the reconstructive and plastic surgery and burns centre before he was appointed as the CEO of the hospital.
Unfortunately, Dr Ampoma has not resigned as the head of department, but still act as the head of department for plastic surgery and at the same time doubles as the CEO again, he writes a memo as HOD to his office and approve the same memo as the CEO For the past 2 and a half years
Atinka news speaking with some Aggrieved members hinted that, Dr Ampomah being the CEO has appointed his personal assistant to be in charge of P.P.M.E and wants to appoint the Personal assistant inlaw to be Director of finance , meanwhile Lucas have been acting for the past 19 months and have brought stability and unity in the finance department
Adding salt to injuries, Dr Opokuware Ampomah has Allegedly told some members of the senior staff Association that, if he is able to get rid of Lucas Amewuda, then he has the chances of getting rid of other heads of departments.
The Korle-bu senior staffs association is calling on the government to Call Dr Ampomah to order and stop him from appointing a new director of finance.
He is very arrogant and does not listen to anybody.
Has he was rallied and supporter to get the appointment for within. So as we believe Lucas is our own and can equally be a substantive Director of finance.
every member of all associations, nurses and doctors are all disappointed in Dr Opokuware Ampomah, but anytime a member speaks on the issue, Dr Opokuware Ampomah makes sure your are sacked from the hospital

The CEO (Dr. Ampomah) doubles as a director of one of the centres of excellence (Plastic Surgery), and CEO at the same time for the past 2 years plus that he was appointed CEO.
In effect, he raises a memo from the said centre, and comes to the office of the CEO to approve same which is a real case of conflict of interest.
What is there at Plastic Surgery that he his covering up that is not making him hand over to Dr. Anyigba who is next in line to be Head of Department. If this is not greed and corruption then we don’t have words for it.
The CEO has virtually taken up the functions of the various directorates, resulting in a situation where everything delays.
This affects service delivery adversely and the poor patient is the one that suffers.
The most recent development is his obsession with controlling who becomes a Director in the facility. He appointed his executive assistant as a deputy director for planning, monitoring and evaluation, a role he had to change the requirements for her to qualify for, and secondly had no experience in.
He currently is busily scheming to get the brother in-law of his executive assistant as the Director of Finance, instead of a deputy Director of Finance who has acted in that capacity for close to 2 years.
Staffs are demoralized because, time and again, the institution under the current CEO does not reward the hard work of officers who have risen through the ranks with the requisite managerial appointments.
They break their backs to prove their competence, only for the CEO’s favorite person to be appointe
To make matters worse, he is sitting on the regular promotions and conversions of staff for several months and some up to more than a year, without any proper justification per the provisions in the law. what has changed since the current CEO took office, apart from profiting from the system? To even make matters worse the Board Chairman who has an oversight responsibility of the CEO does not reside in the country making the CEO have a field day. Who is listening to the ordinary staf
The CEO holds the hospital to ransom when he travels, sick or on leave. Nothing happens in his absence. Cheques are not signed, memos addressed to him are not signed and attended to, suppliers are not paid, approvals on the GIFMIS are halted, in fact nothing happens in his absence.
The business of the Hospital is halted in his absence. The question one then ask is would you run your own private hospital like that in that your absence renders the hospital administration to come to a halt.
When there are able Directors and their Deputies who can step inn to run the hospital.
The few times that he has handed over to the Director of Pharmacy he his restricted as to what he can do. He comes back to reverse and cancels memos and approvals acted upon by his own care taker when he is not aroun
His arrogant and selfish leadership style is taking the hospital backwards. He does not respect his Directors and talks to staff anyhow. He is rude and very intimidati
The CEO has taken deliberate steps to break the front of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association KOSSA, a pressure group in the hospital that keeps management on its toes with respect to issues of Governance, Procurement, Finances and other general areas that have a bearing on the development of the hospital.
This he did by appointing the President of the above-mentioned group as a deputy Director for Pharmacy. The Deputy Director after his appointment is still at post irrespective of his appointment is still at post as KOSSA President, a clear case of conflict of interest. Another officer of KOSSA suddenly also got a scholarship from the CEO that has taken him out of the country. In fact he has succeeded in breaking the front of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association to have his w
The CEO does not does not allow due procurement processes to be followed by deciding who contracts are awarded to in his office. An example is a contract for cleaning services, where he cancelled all prospective contractors and quickly put his favorite Christian Clinic who is not registered as a Supplier in Korle Bu. He then quickly asked the such company to quickly register so the contract could be awarded. What is the CEO’s interest in all the
With the above reasons we humbly request that the CEO be made to step down so investigations into the various allegations are properly looked into as his continue stay in office as CEO and Director of Plastic Surgery and burns unit will hinder any progress to investigate h
Thank you. And also bring peace and trust in the hospital.
