Mahama Finally Admits It : ” Akuffo Addo’s 8 Years Was Not A Waste Of Time “, He Says
Earlier today, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC for short, former president John Dramani Mahama, made a statement that has baffled a lot of people and has received a lot of mixed reactions from Ghanaians. This statement he made was during his campaign where he gave a speech at a durbar in the Wa West constituency, which was being filmed by GhOne TV.
In his speech, he made mention that the 8 that the NPP, led by Akuffo Addo and Bawumia was not a waste of time. This statement, on immediate notice may confuse a lot of Ghana. This is due to the unrelenting truth about the Akuffo Addo-Bawumia government that has left the nation in a state of economic crisis amid series of other problems such as the current water pollution menace we are facing due to illegal mining, popularly known as’galamsey’. Not only has the current government worsened the state of the nation’s economy, but also has made living conditions unbearable for the fellow citizens of the republic, so much so that, many institutions have gone on strikes and demonstration about the poor economic state of the nation.
However, as John Mahama continued, he clarified his statement, indicating that Akuffo Addo’s 8 years have served as a source of assessment of the nation. He further said that, now that we know that, a good leader is not one who makes the sweetest promises, but one who is honest, humble and trustworthy. Moreover, he mentioned that, in our current dispensation, we need someone who has experience to set things right in the nation.
“At this point, we need someone with experience to lead the nation towards sustainable development. It is not the time to be doing try and error, try and error. That is what Akuffo Addo was doing, ‘try me’, ‘try me’. But we are past that point”, he said.
What Mahama said makes a lot of sense. Experience is Mahama’s greatest advantage going into the 2024 presidential election. It something that Bawumia and all other presidential candidates lack. This is because Mahama has already been a president before.
