Speaking during an interview, Sally Mann said the award would be a straight battle between Stonebwoy and King Promise because they fit every single criterion the award is based on.

Mann asserted that while Paluta satisfies some requirements, he does not meet others. She said Paluta has no brand that distinguishes him as an artist to propel him to win such a prestigious award.
She continued to rant, claiming Paluta has no dedicated fanbase like the other two. Mann added that if she were producing the awards show, she would implement a rule that an artist without at least five years of relevance in the industry cannot even win Artist of the Year!
King Paluta is locked in a three-way battle for the Artist of the Year Award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) with King Promise and Stonebwoy. The artist, whose career exploded within the past two years, faces stiff competition from the other more established artists, with King Promise largely seen as the favourite to walk home with the honor for the first time in his career.
