Sarpong, who operates the Spintex Hospital, a herbal medical center in Tema, alleges that Kevin Taylor defamed him in a series of recent comments he made on his Loud Silence Media show.
Taylor alleged during some recent episodes of his show that despite carrying himself as a doctor, Dr Sarpong is not a licensed medical doctor. He said he is a fraud who has propped himself up with fake qualifications and by buying awards to make himself look impressive. Taylor dared him to show any medical degree he has to prove he is a doctor.
Taylor also made accusations that Sarpong is attempting to run some fraudulent business deals by tying himself to the President, John Dramani Mahama. He called on the Ghana police to arrest him. Taylor dared Anarfi to sue him, claiming he would even be willing to come to Ghana to attend court.
In an action filed in the High Court Wednesday, March 26, Anarfi, via his lawyers, sued Kevin Taylor for defamation. They are seeking Ghc 20 million in exemplary damages, as well as an unspecified amount of general and special damages, plus costs, including Legal fees.
This action comes just weeks after Anas Aremeyaw Anas won a spectacular $18m judgment in the U.S. against former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, for making comments against Anas eerily similar to what Taylor made against Sarpong.
