The donation was facilitated by the National Deputy Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade Elikem Kotoko, on behalf of Mr. Taylor. In his message to the traders, Mr. Taylor urged them to consider insuring their goods as a way to mitigate the impact of such unforeseen events in the future. He also called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire by the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service. If arson is determined, he emphasized that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
A representative from the Regional Chief Fire Officer shared important safety advice, urging market traders to avoid unsafe practices, such as turning their shops into kitchens, leaving fires unattended, or engaging in illegal electrical connections and smoking within the market. She highlighted that these are common causes of fires and assured the public that investigations are ongoing, with a final report to be submitted to the appropriate authorities soon.
In gratitude, Bono East Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Joshua Basintale, received the donation on behalf of the victims. He expressed profound appreciation to LoudSilence Television and EYES on the Ballot for their kindness, noting that the donation would bring significant relief to the affected traders.
The market traders, led by Mr. Zuka Mohammed, also expressed heartfelt thanks for the support. Many were so moved by the generosity that they sang songs of praise for Mr. Kevin Taylor, who has previously provided similar assistance to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage in the Volta Region.
