Two people were killed Wednesday morning following a shooting in the 100 block of Shaffer Lane in Washington Township around 2:40 a.m.
Kittanning police were called to the scene and found two deceased individuals. A suspect, Scott Shaffer, 56, was arrested and charged. He reportedly confessed to the shooting.
According to a preliminary investigation, Shaffer and the two victims were at Ruby’s Den Burger & Spirits Bar and Grill and invited them back to his home.
Shaffer went ahead and asked his 18-year-old daughter to stay inside and not come out. Once the victims arrived, he shot both of them and asked his daughter to hide the weapon. She instead called 911 leading to his arrest.
Police did not identify either victim, only listing their ages as 27 and 32. Kenny Moore was identified by grieving friends on social media.
According to his Facebook profile, Moore, of East Brady, operated the tree cutting, trimming and removal service Ken’s Tree & Debris. He previously worked at Asplundh Tree Expert Company. Kenny is an alumnus of Ford City High School.
Friends testified to him being a quiet man, hard working and a great friend.
“Kenny Moore was the sweetest soul and deserved way more than what this world had to offer him. I will forever cherish our long talks and our karaoke moments. I’m heartbroken knowing last weekend will be the last time I ever see you again. You always knew how to make people laugh and you had a heart of gold,” read one of many tributes left in his honor.
Moore leaves behind two kids he adored, Baylie and Nixon.
