The six-unit classroom block for the Nuaso St John’s Anglican School, financed by the American rapper – real name Jeffrey Bruce Atkins – was commissioned in a ceremony held Tuesday, April 1.
Ja Rule and his wife, Aisha, who has also been instrumental in the project, were present for the commisioning.
The building sparked controversy following its establishment, with Ghanaians on social media comparing it unfavourably to the edifice. Ghanaian-born American comic Michael Blackson, set up in his mother’s hometown of Agona Nsaba in the Central Region.
Controversial critic, Bongo Ideas attacked Ja Rule for building an antique school. Bongo laid blame on the contractor, who was Ghanaian, insisting Ja Rule should have used an American contractor like Blackson to ensure the finished product reflected modern architecture.
Content creator, Kobe Boujee, hit back, arguing that Ja Rule deserves props for helping Ghanaian kids, even if one might have reservations about parts of the project.
