Nketia, in a viral interview, narrated that the NPP, around the time of Atta Mills getting into office, started spreading a rumour alleging he owned a fuel filling station in Sunyani.
The long-time NDC former General Secretary turned Chairman revealed that the rumour spread far and wide, and many people started believing it, including members of his own NDC party.
Nketia revealed that a party member came to him once seeking employment at his filling station because he had been fired from his job at another station. Mosquito said that was when it came to his notice that he was being accused of owning such a station.

Unable to stop the rumours from spreading, the veteran political operative hatched a plan to gain revenge on the real owner of the filling station and those spreading the rumours against him.
When the NDC needed to transport supporters accross the country, Mosquito said he asked buses coming from the North of the country to refuel for free at his alleged ‘filling station’. When the workers at the station demanded for money, the NDC supporters forcefully said the station’s owner told them to fuel for free and left.
Asiedu Nketia said his unusual stunt forced the real owner of the station to come out and reveal themselves, finally ending that saga.
On social media, Asiedu Nketia’s ploy was hailed as an example of his astute political skill that has kept him atop the NDC party for decades.
“This guy get mind,” X (formerly Twitter) user @J_McMensah said in reaction to the post.
