President Akufo-Addo has emphasized the importance of maintaining the slight majority of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in parliament to avoid challenges in completing his term in office.
Speaking at the NPP’s final rally in the Ejisu constituency, he called on voters to support the party’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng, in the upcoming by-election.
The President warned against an independent candidate joining forces with the minority in parliament to hinder the government’s progress, urging voters to reject such a scenario.
He stressed the necessity of having the majority in parliament to push forward with pending programs and initiatives in the next seven months.
Highlighting the development projects undertaken in the Ejisu Constituency during his tenure, President Akufo-Addo urged voters not to rely on an elected independent candidate for projects.
He reiterated the need for a strong NPP representation in parliament to deliver on the promises made to the constituents.
Meanwhile, Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, expressed confidence in the NPP’s victory in the upcoming election, dismissing the strength of the independent candidate.
The Ejisu by-election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 30, with both the NPP and its supporters hopeful for a successful outcome.
The President’s call to safeguard the NPP’s majority in parliament reflects a strategic move to ensure a seamless completion of his term in office.
As the election day approaches, the focus remains on securing the necessary support to maintain the NPP’s stronghold in parliament and drive forward the government’s agenda for the benefit of the constituents.
