Dumelo, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed disapproval over a recent move by the Ghana Police Service in which they destroyed 61 sacks of cannabis due to a court order.
The actor cum farmer turned legislator, questioned why cigarettes are legal in Ghana yet marijuana continues to remain illegal.
Dumelo, a veteran farmer, has previously spoken about the potential of marijuana as a crop to transform the Ghanaian economy if legalized, properly regulated, and taxed.
In a similar tweet in February 2022, Dumelo wrote: “Casinos, Cigarettes and Alcohol are all legal in Ghana but marijuana is illegal. We spend millions of dollars importing alcohol and cigarettes yet we can make billions exporting Marijuana based products as a country. The Legal marijuana market will be worth $70bn in 6 years….”
