Speaking on United Showbiz on UTV Saturday night, Arnold ran a historical analysis that pointed to the ‘Favourite Story’ hitmaker as the most likely victor of the most prestigious award in Ghanaian music.
Expanding on his point, the veteran writer and pundit noted that in recent years, the TGMA has seen a tendency to reward artists who lose the topmost award by crowning them the year after that.
Arnold recounted that in 2021, KiDi was locked in a battle with Diana Hamilton for the award and eventually lost. However, KiDi returned to win the award in 2022, where he pipped Black Sheriff to the Artist of the Year award.
The trend continued in 2023 when Black Sheriff won the topmost award after losing the year prior.
Based on this analysis, Arnold said King Promise is poised to win the award this year, after losing out to Stonebwoy in last year’s awards.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is set to return in a few weeks with Stonebwoy, King Promise, King Paluta, Joe Mettle, and others vying for the coveted Artist of the Year Award.
