According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, preliminary investigations revealed that the 21-year-old student was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of February 27, 2025. Medical personnel from KNUST Hospital confirmed her death at the scene before transferring her body to the hospital morgue for further examination.
A subsequent police examination revealed visible marks of violence on the deceased, raising suspicions of foul play. Following intensive crime scene investigations, 21-year-old Daniel Tuffour was arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
The Inspector-General of Police has personally engaged with the family of the deceased to offer condolences and assure them that justice will be served. Additionally, the police are working closely with KNUST authorities to explore measures to enhance security on campus and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The arrest of the suspect has sparked conversations about campus safety and the need for heightened security measures to protect students.
