In a now-viral post, she lamented the excessive noise caused by trucks selling goods in residential areas as early as 6 AM.
The popular Ghanaian media personality questioned why vendors, specifically those selling ‘nkura duro’ (a local herbal remedy), blast loud music and announcements during the early hours of the morning, disrupting the peace of those still asleep or preparing for work. She described this situation as “noise pollution” and called for urgent attention to such disturbances in urban settings.
Her remarks have triggered mixed reactions, with some agreeing that noise pollution is a major issue in Ghana, while others argue that street vendors are merely trying to make a living. Some have asked Berla to move out of her neighbourhood to a calmer one if the noise pollution is always disturbing her.
She wrote on X “Ghana is a sick country, honestly! Because explain to me why there’s a truck selling ‘nkura duro’ with loud music and announcements as early as 6am on the streets when people are sleeping or getting ready for work….That’s noise pollution…”
She has since faced heavy backlash for attempting to discredit hardworking individuals struggling to make ends meet.
