Foods women need to consume regularly during their period to help them feel better
MedicalNewsToday says that many women have uncomfortable symptoms when they have their periods. However, some foods can make these symptoms better, while others can make them worse. Here are some foods you should eat often to ease the pain of your period.
Salmon
This fish is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to relax the uterus and stop cramps. It is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon can be grilled or made into sushi. Both are good ways to get a lot of high-quality protein and B vitamins in one meal.
Black chocolate
Most likely, you don’t need another reason to eat chocolate. It is without a doubt one of the most common foods to eat when you have your period. Dark chocolate is a great comfort food because it is full of antioxidants and magnesium.
Try to stick to simple dark chocolate instead of candy that has a lot of additives and other things in it. These won’t do much for your health and will only give you empty calories.
Even dark chocolate has sugar and caffeine, so it’s still important to limit how much chocolate you eat.
Chicken
Chicken is another food that you can eat that is high in iron and protein. Eating protein is important for your health as a whole, and it can help you feel full and satisfied during your period, which can stop you from wanting to eat unhealthy foods.
Water
We all know that water is important, so this doesn’t need to be explained. Keeping yourself hydrated can make it less likely that you’ll get headaches from being dehydrated, which is a common sign of menstruation.
Ginger
Muscle pain is a common sign of having your period. Ginger can help your sore muscles feel better because it can stop inflammation.
You can drink a cup of ginger tea when you have your period. Don’t eat more than 4 grams of ginger in a day, though, because more than that can give you heartburn and stomach aches.
