Maguire, the former Riverdance lead who founded the studio in 2006 to provide ‘high-quality dance education’ to his Tuscon AZ community and beyond, was ‘surrounded by his family’ with love at the time of his passing, the studio said in a statement.
“We’re devastated to share the news that our beloved teacher, studio owner and friend, Darren Maguire, has passed away,” the statement said. “Rest in peace, Darren,”
Maguire, originally from Seven Kings, Redbridge in the United Kingdom, made Tuscon his home and teaching his mission. The Maguire dance academy staff, lead by Maguire, provided instruction in Irish dance to dances of all ages and levels, either for recreational or competitive purposes. The academy had studios in Tuscon and Dallas.
The news of Darren’s death truly sparked a wave of tributes to the late dance teacher.
“Our dancing World is 💔 What a friend Darren was, from growing up competing in the same age group – I would always be delighted when I seen you in London,” said Angela Reilly. “I am sincerely 💔 for your amazing family and send love to Kathleen Maguire and Michael and the whole family,”
