Raye has since absconded and is being sought after by authorities. He is reportedly driving a black Chevy Silverado and thought to be headed to the Southern United States.

New Britain police were called to the scene of a domestic violence related double shooting on Prospect Street around 3 a.m. Monday, January 27th, 2025.
Arriving officers found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and unresponsive. New Britain EMS attempted medical treatment however, the woman, who was later identified as 30-year-old Bryana Raye, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities found another female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition. Authorities have not identified the second victim but social media posts indicate she’s Bryana’s mother. Authorities said the suspected shooter is known to the victims and fled immediately after the shooting.
Bryana Raye was married to Christopher Raye, who authorities believe to be the gunman. Police have not formally declared Raye a suspect.
On social media, an indignant close friend of Bryana shared photos of Christopher and called for help in apprehending him.
She wrote: “‼️PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT‼️ This is Christopher Raye of New Britain Connecticut, he is on the run after killing his wife and severely injuring his mother in law!!! He is thought to be headed down south! He drives a black chevy silverado!!! If you see or hear anything about this man contact the New Britain police department immediately!!! SPREAD THIS MESSAGE EVERYWHERE‼️‼️”
