The crime came to light when a motorcyclist noticed blood dripping from a polythene bag Ajayi was carrying and raised an alarm. A mob quickly gathered, but the police intervened just in time to rescue the suspect from being lynched. Upon inspection, the severed head of Salome was found in the bag. Further investigations led officers to Ajayi’s residence, where the rest of her body was discovered.
Ajayi later confessed to the crime during interrogation. In a video that has since gone viral, he claimed that he and Salome, whom he had been dating for a year, had a heated argument during which she allegedly tried to stab him with a knife. Ajayi offered this as his justification for the murder.
Ajayi, who released an album titled ‘God of the Earth in 2020’, is now in police custody as investigations continue into the gruesome act.
