Black Sherif wins Best Hip Hop Act at Soundcity MVP Awards Festival 2023
Ghanaian superstar, Black Sherif has won the prestigious Hip Hop Act of the Year at the 2023 edition of the Soundcity MVP Awards festival.
The event took place at the Eko Convention Center, Lagos, Nigeria.
The 21- year- old triumphed in stiff competition from South Africa’s Nasty C and AKA, Nigeria’s Blaqbones, Ladipoe, as well as Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones among others, to emerge victor with his global smash hit, ‘Kwaku The Traveller’

Black Sherif released his much- anticipated album, The Villain I Never Was’ last year in October 2022 which went on to receive massive streams and good reviews across various digital streaming platform spectrum.
His unique blend of highlife, afrobeat and trap has garnered him an emerging super fan army and his live performances are known for their energetic and engaging nature.

Some mothers at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital were thankful to have musician Black Sherif pay them a visit at the health facility.
The ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ hitmaker as a philanthropic gesture paid the fees of mothers who were unable to settle their bills after they were discharged.
The Ridge Hospital as it is known shared pictures of Black Sherif with the ecstatic mothers.
Aside from paying off their bills, Black Sherif also provided the mothers with some goodies.
In a video, the musician also entertained them, performing some of his biggest hits.
“Black Sherif settles medical bills for some mothers who were unable to pay after being discharged at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. @blacksherif_ also provided the mothers with food and toiletries,” the hospital announced on its social media handles.
Ridge Hospital indicated that the administration is grateful to the musician for the gesture.

In a radio interview with Kumasi’s Opemsuo FM, the 50- year- old actor mentioned that Abraham Atta’s flawless performance in the movie constantly brought tears to his eye whenever he watched it.
He noted that the experience is a reminder of the wealth of untapped talents in Ghana.
He was emphatic that Africa had many skills, and was particularly proud of those who equally excel on bigger and globally recognised platforms.
“I shed tears anytime I watch the movie because Abraham Attah was spectacular.
Today, Abraham Attah has now moved on to bigger and better things and I’m so proud of him.
That movie brought me to the realisation that there are many untapped talents in Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire or Sierra Leone and other African countries to be discovered and seen on the screens.”
The actor also stated that he and his partners are getting ready to create a film studio in Ghana and throughout West Africa while he is currently in Ghana for a number of projects.
Idris Elba also mentioned that although a lot can be achieved in the film industry in Africa, the continent lacked the required facilities.

Idris Elba joined Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the first Akwasidae celebration this year which hosted many chiefs and traditional leaders from the region.
