The scam began in 2023 when Anne, then married to a millionaire, received a Facebook message from someone posing as Brad Pitt’s mother. Shortly after, “Brad Pitt” himself entered the picture, sweeping Anne into a whirlwind “romance” filled with sweet words, marriage proposals, and pleas for financial help.
The scammer spun an intricate web of lies, claiming they needed money for cancer treatment and even sharing fake hospital bed photos to make the story more convincing. Adding to the deception, the fake Brad explained he couldn’t access his own money because of an ongoing divorce with Angelina Jolie. Anne, deeply invested in the relationship, sent a significant portion of her divorce settlement to support her supposed movie star lover.
Despite glaring red flags, like the fact that “Brad” was too busy to call and would only text, Anne believed the lies. The fantasy began to unravel when she saw a photo of the real Brad Pitt out with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. Reality hit hard, and by 2024, Anne filed a complaint with authorities. Unfortunately, the scammer has yet to be caught.
